Summer time.

{blazer: banana factory | tee: loft | jeans: 7 for all mankind (similar) | shoes: target | sunnies: tory burch}

In case you couldn't tell from the outfit I'm wearing, it's finally June! It might not be the official start of summer, but in my book, it's close enough. Can you guys remember what is used to feel like to have a summer vacation? Like, the 2 months off kind of summer vacation. Those were the good old days. It's times like this when I start to feel jealous of all my teacher friends (and my teacher mom).

Luckily, I'll still be able to squeeze in some much needed summer vacation time. I'll just have to pack it into 2 weeks, instead of 2 months. Anyone else having summer break nostalgia? I'd love to know what your summer plans are!

Hello!

{blazer: h&m (similar) | tee: loft | jeans: citizens | scarf: zara | bag: target (similar) | sunnies: loft}

Hello pink blazer. Hello Monday. Hello readers. Hello my new favorite sun glasses. Hello 1 year blog anniversary. Check back here to see my first post exactly one year ago today. I think it's fair to say that this blog has come along way! Thanks for reading along and let's keep at it, shall we?

Frolicking

{blazer: thrifted | shirt: F21 | jeans: jbrand (similar) | shoes: target | bag: target | sunnies: ray-ban}

I wore this little number while frolicking around Georgetown on my trip to DC last week. If you haven't been to Georgetown, that's what people do there. They frolic around in little numbers (also known as outfits). It was a sunny day and everyone was out shopping, sipping coffee, seeing, and being seen.

As I was busy window shopping at a few of my favorite high-end stores in Georgetown, including Rag and Bone and Michael Kors, I couldn't help but snicker at the fact that I was getting compliments on my Target bag and shoes! (which are currently buy one get one half off). It was a friendly reminder that I didn't need those $400 shoes in the window to feel stylish. Affordable style for the win!

Monday.

{blazer: zara (similar) | sweater: gap (similar) | jeans: Jbrand | bag: F21 | shoes: target}

Happy Monday everyone. When I woke up in the dark this morning, it quickly became apparent that I am still mourning the loss of an hour. Add that to the fact that I haven't had my coffee yet and I'm amazed that I'm even writing this post right now.

I think it is this cobalt bag that's keeping me going. Nothing says keep on blogging quite like catching sight of a bright blue ball of pleather out of the corner of my eye. In fact, I'm going to take this bag to the coffee shop immediately and then I'll pretty much be unstoppable. Bring it on, Monday.

Realizations

{blazer: h&m (similar) | blouse: thrifted | jeans: Jbrand (thrifted) (similar) | necklace: Target | shoes: Faryl Robyn via Gilt}

I've realized 2 things today and it's only 9am. Whew.

First, it's time for a haircut! Now that I'm living in Portland, I need to find myself a new hair stylist. This is one of my least favorite tasks. I'm not sure why, but I've never been able to commit to a hair stylist. I might go once or twice, but then I'm back on the hunt. I'm just waiting for someone to hair-tie me down.

Second, I'm starting to look like a crazy person when I take photos at my mom's house. I'm that girl. You know, the one standing in the driveway, posing in front of a tripod. Where's a good alley when you need one?

Minty

{blazer: Express (similar) | tee: Jcrew | skirt: Jcrew | scarf: F21 | boots: Steven via DSW}

I'm thankful for Friday and four day work weeks. After taking a few weeks off to be with family, it's been an adjustment to join the working world again. But finding things to be thankful for always helps pull me through.

 Oh, and I'm thankful for scarves. brrrr. We've been on a cold streak here in the NW. The kind of cold streak where I wear my down coat like a sweatshirt and only take it off for outfit photos.

Sequins

{blazer: Loft (similar) | tank: Jcrew | jeans: 7 for all mankind (similar) | shoes: Payless | clutch: F21}

I bought my first full sequined shirt in college. It was bring pink and for some reason, I felt (and looked) like an awkward mermaid while wearing it. But that didn't stop me, of course. When I look back at pictures and see that shirt, I cringe.

I finally got the courage up to try a shirt full of sequins again and fortunately, these sequins are far from mermaid-ish. And I don't think they will make me cringe in 8 years. But you know what I always say- "never say never". Or was that Bieber? Either way, I believe it.

the pink scarf

{blazer: h&m (similar) | shirt: h&m | jeans: citizens | boots: steven | scarf: j crew factory (similar)}

Hello again. I've missed you. I finally found a break from the rain (and a break from life) to snap a few outfit photos. Things have been busy lately. If you've ever had that feeling where your whole world gets turned upside down, then we've got a lot in common. My world still feels askew, but I am adjusting to a new normal, and learning to plan around the unexpected.

And despite life's changes, I still get dressed everyday! So that's good news for this little blog. Now I just need to get my camera back on board with the outfit photos. I also need to get the weather back on board. After I snapped this set, I had to go straight to rain boots because these suede boots were not happy about the rain. But my favorite pink scarf was happy- because it's cozy and warm and can handle the cold and the rain. And yes, I just applied feelings to my accessories. (And it's only Monday).

Flannel Blaze

{Flannel: Urban | Jacket: thrifted | Jeans: J brand (similar) | Boots: Circa Joan and David (similar)}

This morning I got up, washed my coffee mug, set it next to my keys, and then left it at home. Who does that? It's the one thing I can't seem to remember in the morning. I clearly picked up my keys, which would have required looking at the mug, and still wasn't able to make the connection that I should also pick up the mug. humph. My only consolation is that now I can drink out a a red Starbucks cup. My first one of the season! It's a safe bet that I'll be instagraming that later.

In other news, my rainboots made it onto the daily style buzz today. Check it out if your'e not already a follower. It's a great site for style inspiration and procrastination.

Black and Blue.

{Shirt: Loft (similar) | Jacket: Calvin Klein (thrifted) | Pants: Banana | Bracelet: Loft | Shoes: Payless}

I barely snuck in these photos before the light got away from me. With the days starting to get darker earlier, I'm feeling a bit rushed to take my photos in the evening after work. And it's just going to get darker, and darker. Any bloggers out there have tips on winter photo shoots?

Also, this is my last week in DC. I'm moving on Saturday. The time is quickly sneaking away from me. I'll do my best to squeeze in some outfit photos and blog time over the next weeks, but realistically  things might get a bit sporadic around here for a hot minute. I've got clothes and shoes in boxes somewhere between here and Portland, and clothes thrown all over my room, waiting to be sorted and packed. And I don't know what is where. So my outfit creativity might be a bit stifled and I might start wearing sweats 24/7. I probably won't document that, but you never know, so stay tuned.

Party Shirt

{Shirt: H&M (recent) | Blazer: Express | Jeans: Citizens of Humanity | Shoes: Payless | Belt: Banana Republic | Necklace: DIY via dismount creative | Backyard: parents house}

This shirt has mullet like qualities. Business in the front and party in the back. Or at least it's long in the back, can that count as a party? I think so! Plus, the colors are fun and I think there might be a hint of a zebra stripe in this shirt so that automatically screams party.

Notice how these pictures are so very GREEN! Ladies and gentlemen, we are not in DC anymore. I arrived at my parent's house outside of Portland, Oregon late last night for a quick weekend extravaganza! My youngest brother is graduating from college so it's time to celebrate with family. Looking forward to a relaxing and loving weekend. Hope you all are doing the same. Thanks for reading!
