Black and Blue.

{Shirt: Loft (similar) | Jacket: Calvin Klein (thrifted) | Pants: Banana | Bracelet: Loft | Shoes: Payless}

I barely snuck in these photos before the light got away from me. With the days starting to get darker earlier, I'm feeling a bit rushed to take my photos in the evening after work. And it's just going to get darker, and darker. Any bloggers out there have tips on winter photo shoots?

Also, this is my last week in DC. I'm moving on Saturday. The time is quickly sneaking away from me. I'll do my best to squeeze in some outfit photos and blog time over the next weeks, but realistically  things might get a bit sporadic around here for a hot minute. I've got clothes and shoes in boxes somewhere between here and Portland, and clothes thrown all over my room, waiting to be sorted and packed. And I don't know what is where. So my outfit creativity might be a bit stifled and I might start wearing sweats 24/7. I probably won't document that, but you never know, so stay tuned.

Oxblood, or whatever.

{Shirt: Old Navy (similar) | Cardigan: Target | Pants: Banana | Shoes: Payless | Necklace: Nordstrom}

Oxblood. Burgundy. Maroon. Brick. Wine. Crimson. Garnet. Whatever you want to call this color of my pants, I'll still love it. I love it so much, that I painted my nails the same color. Except when it's on my nails, you call it Bogota Blackberry.

Phew. How's that for a color lesson on a Thursday?

Hot Little Coat.

{Jacket: Zara | Scarf: H&M | Shirt: Urban | Pants: Urban (similar) | Shoes: Payless}

I love it when I buy a coat in the spring, and it turns out to be absolutely perfect for fall.  This special little black leather number from Zara has turned out to be just the right balance of warmth and style as the fall days begin to set in. It might be hard to believe it's fall when we've recently seen 80 here in DC...but that can't fool me. The color of the trees and the crisp smell of the air don't lie. Plus, the best part about this coat is that when I get warm, I can take it off and throw it over my shoulder like a rock star.

Bree-Mix. The Blue Tunic.

{Shirt: New Orleans | Pants: Ann Taylor | Necklace: Bauble Bar | Shoes: Payless}

There is something great about this tunic. It's roomy, comfy, and can be worn tucked in, untucked, sleeves rolled, sleeves down. It's possible that it could be worn inside out too, but I haven't tried that  yet.

In other news, today is a good day! Not only is it a Bree-mix day, but it's a start of vacation day! Tonight I jet set off to California for a wonderful wedding and my birthday celebration! I had big plans to show you all my packing tips and strategies while getting ready for this trip, but turns out, I don't think I have any tips or strategies. My packing skills are a mess. I find it necessary to try everything on, at least once, and usually end up with more clothes on the floor than in my suitcase. I thought this trip might be different, and I even prepared a little packing list. But it was still chaos. Better luck next time.

Previous styles can be seen here and here.

The Vest

{Tee: Loft | Vest: Old Navy | Jeans: Citizens | Shoes: Banana | |Belt: thrifted | Necklace: Eastern Market}

Is it really October? I feel like I missed a month, or three, this year. The time is flying by. I can't complain though, October is my favorite month! And this year, I'll have lots to celebrate including my birthday, a wedding, a cross county move, and all things pumpkin.

October is also the month when I start wearing all my favorite vests. I really love a good vest. When I'm not posing for blog pictures, I can often be found curled up on the couch wearing my favorite down vest for warmth and coziness.
