Yellow

{Shirt: Anthropologie | Cardigan: Old Navy | Skirt: Banana Republic (similar) | Belt: Anthropoligie | Shoes: Payless}

Last night I thought it might be nice to watch a Netflix movie. I began browsing instant watch, and was immediately overwhelmed with movies that I've never heard of.  And when I stumbled upon something that sounded interesting, it was always a TV show. TV shows seem to have taken over Netflix. Don't get me wrong, I love a good TV show, but sometimes I just want to indulge in a story that can be wrapped up in 2 hours- instead of 30+ episodes. Call me a commitment-phobe, but I just can't always get involved in a WHOLE series. By the time I found a movie that sounded half way interesting, I had pretty much lost interest.

So I did the only obvious thing, and switched over to online window shopping- no commitment involved.

"New" Jeans

{Shirt: Anthropologie | Jeans: J Brand (thrifted) (similar)  | Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell | Clutch: Dooney and Bourke | Necklace: F21}

This weekend I remembered what it feels like to be cold, ok maybe not actually cold- but definitely not hot.  It was fabulous. DC finally had a break in the heat, and I celebrated by wearing my "new" skinny jeans that I thrifted on my last work trip to North Carolina.

Lets talk about thrifting pants. Normally, I steer clear of the pants section at thrift stores because I have long legs. Trips to the pants section usually go something like this- I spot the perfect jeans, I check the size and they are MY SIZE, I head to the dressing room hoping I've found the perfect pair, I put them on, I have a brief moment of bliss, and then I look down to find the jeans have been hemmed and my ankles are awkwardly peeking up at me. Sigh. It is in the thrift store that I first realized there is a big difference between cropped pants, and pants that are just too short for the legs in them.

But this time, North Carolina was good to me. Not only are these pants NOT hemmed, they actually might be a bit TOO long. You heard me. I have them tucked under in the pictures above. My ankles are thankful.

Bauble

{Shirt: Loft | Skirt: Urban Outfitters | Shoes: Payless | Necklace: Bauble Bar}

This necklace is one on my favorite jewelry pieces- ever. I know that's a big claim, but this is a great necklace! In the past, I've worn in higher up, like a bib, but then I saw one of my favorite bloggers, Kendi, style a similar necklace in a long fashion and I decided to give it a go. The result? LOVE. It's so inspiring to come up with new ways to wear something you love.

Party Shirt

{Shirt: H&M (recent) | Blazer: Express | Jeans: Citizens of Humanity | Shoes: Payless | Belt: Banana Republic | Necklace: DIY via dismount creative | Backyard: parents house}

This shirt has mullet like qualities. Business in the front and party in the back. Or at least it's long in the back, can that count as a party? I think so! Plus, the colors are fun and I think there might be a hint of a zebra stripe in this shirt so that automatically screams party.

Notice how these pictures are so very GREEN! Ladies and gentlemen, we are not in DC anymore. I arrived at my parent's house outside of Portland, Oregon late last night for a quick weekend extravaganza! My youngest brother is graduating from college so it's time to celebrate with family. Looking forward to a relaxing and loving weekend. Hope you all are doing the same. Thanks for reading!

Pretty Things

{Shirt: NOLA souvenir | Skirt: Loft (similar) | Shoes: Payless | Necklace: Target | Watch: Michael Kors}

This pretty little wall is located in front of my house. Well technically, the neighbors house, but close enough for me to claim it as my own. I've lived in the same house for 3 years and never really noticed that this wall was pretty. BUT THEN, one of my best friends came to visit and told me I should take my outfit photos in front of this wall. And that's when I realized, this wall is PRETTY! Thank goodness for best friends!

You know what else is pretty? Blue and yellow together. See above.

Sunday Funday

{Dress: H&M | Bag: Anthro | Belt: H&M | Shoes: Payless | Watch: Michael Kors | Sunnies: Ray Ban}

It was a Sunday brunch kind of day. Mimosas, good friends, deep belly laughter, and delicious food. Pair all that with a breezy sundress and my favorite pink wedges and it makes for a fabulous Funday.

Silver and Neon

{Shirt: American Apparel | Skirt: J.Crew | Shoes: Target | Necklaces: J.Crew, eastern market, F21 | Bracelets: F21, Loft}

I'll let you in on a little secret; I basically missed the 80's. Or at least the pop culture aspect of the 80's-  the fashion, TV shows, music, and big hair. My 80's were spent outdoors, growing up in a cabin in the woods. And while I did wear stir-up pants, I had no idea that it might be fashionable to do so.  Now days, when people throw 80's parties and talk about the Goonies, Jem, Paula Abdul, Double Dare, and wearing acid wash denim, I get to experience it all for the first time. So this neon skirt might look like an 80's flashback, but it's all a new adventure for me!

Since this skirt is bold enough to be the centerpiece of my outfit, I paired it with neutral hints of silver- shoes, bracelets, necklaces, and a grey shirt to balance everything out.
