Blue Jean Tuesday.

Yikes. I'm a day late. Normally I like to show you what I wore over the weekend on Monday, but sometimes the time just gets away from me and all of a sudden it's Tuesday. Don't you just hate it when Monday's fly by? No, you don't? hmmm. Well I think we can at least all agree that blue is a great color, isn't it? 

I must admit that I was very skeptical of the denim on denim trend. I can remember being a teenager and telling me mom she absolutely could NOT wear her denim shirt with her denim jeans. And look at me now. Chambray and skinny jeans all the way. Sorry mom, I guess you were ahead of the game.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are a weak point for me. I pick them out, I think I love them, I wear them once, and decide that I don’t even like them. It happens every year. Which is why I hesitate to invest more than $15 for a pair. So every season I pick up a pair or two at TJ Maxx, F21, or anywhere else on the cheap. (gas station anyone?) And then I don’t feel quite as bad when my relationship with the sunglasses goes awry.

Except there was that one year (also known as 2010) when I decided to invest a bit more in a classic pair of ray bans. And I still love them. But did I learn my lesson? Of course not. The cheap sunglasses keep drawing me back in. Like these bad boys from F21. There is just so much to love (for now).

army pink

I'm having one of those days weeks that only a hot pink mini skirt can fix. Luckily, I've got this one. phew.

In other good news, I'm really loving this army green and hot pink combo. It's a new pairing for me, and I think it's a success! Something about this outfit makes me feel very springy. Oh, yep. you're right. It could also be the bare legs? But I'm sticking to my theory of army pink.

sweater hearts

It's a good thing I like this sweater. Let me tell you why, ok? 

Instagram and facebook are telling me about the warm weather, short shorts, whimsical dresses, and strappy sandals that are making their debut in other parts of the country. But here in Portland, it's still sweater weather. Which is why it's a good thing that I really like this sweater. Because I look at all my pretty summer dresses in the closet, and I want to wear them. And I could wear them, but I don't like to be cold. So instead, I opt for my favorite sweaters (bonus points when there are hearts on it!).  

And for a touch of summer, I've added a few pops of yellow. Maybe that will help lure the sunshine and warmth my way. 

Golden Hour

What happens when you take outfit photos with an outfit you love, but lighting that you don't love?
Many photos without faces. That's what happens.

I was trying to catch that "golden hour" when the lighting is just perfect for photos, but I think I jumped the gun. Instead of that evening glow, I got a serious sun glow right on my face, resulting in a washed out skin tone. Solution? Crop of my face in a few photos and thrown the rest in the recycle bin. These are the woes of being your own photographer.

But regardless, I really like this shirt. and these jeans. oh, and this blazer. and you already know I love these shoes. So this outfit post IS happening. And don't worry, you can see more of my face on Monday!

Hello pink blazer. Hello Monday. Hello readers. Hello my new favorite sun glasses. Hello 1 year blog anniversary. Check back here to see my first post exactly one year ago today. I think it's fair to say that this blog has come along way! Thanks for reading along and let's keep at it, shall we? 

Yellow Cheer

This season, I can’t get enough of yellow. Maybe it’s the yellow flowers that are STILL blooming on this tree. Or maybe it’s the bright and cheery feeling that yellow reminds me of. Or maybe I just really like the color. Yes, that’s probably it. I just really like yellow.  

Oh, and happy Friday everyone! I'm feeling extra thankful for the weekend today. Anyone have any stellar plans?

It’s only 9am but I’m already thinking about lunch. Working in downtown Portland provides me with access to some amazing food carts. And I’ve got a serious crush on my favorite place. So serious, that I’ve been eating the same lunch almost every day for months. It’s called the Whole Bowl and it’s a delicious mix of rice, beans, sauce, tomatoes, cheese, olives, avocado, sour cream, and cilantro. If you live nearby, go here right away. If you don’t, Google ways to make your own. It’s simple, delicious, and healthy. Consider this my public service announcement of the day.

Now, onto my outfit. I call this look casual polka dots. It's prefect to wear to lunch! Need I say more?
