White on White

{Shirt: Anthropologie | Pants: Paige | Shoes: Madewell | Bag: F21}

I don't like yard work. I just thought I'd spell it out for you in case you couldn't tell from the dead plants next to me in the top photo. Turns out, when you live in DC and it's hot and humid all spring and summer long, some plants will die if you don't water them. Others will live on just fine. (see above).

I also don't like making tough decisions. But I'll leave that story for another day...

Skirt Love

{Shirt: F21 | Skirt: Banana Republic | Necklace: handmade from old earrings | Bracelet: Loft | Watch: Michael Kors | Shoes: Payless}

This is my favorite pencil skirt- hands down. I know that's a lofty claim considering I wear pencil skirts an average of at least 3 days a week. But this one has earned its rank. When I joined the "working world" about 3 years ago after graduate school, I had to revamp my wardrobe. I basically owned nothing that I could wear to my job. So I was forced to shop (tragic I know), but in a whole new way from what I was comfortable with. This classic black skirt was one of my first purchases at banana, and it's has been going strong ever since. It has just the right amount of stretch, goes with everything, and rarely needs ironing. What more could a girl want in a pencil skirt?

Also, I made this necklace. I had these square turquoise earrings and one of them broke. So I hung the other on a silver chain using a jump ring. Simple and resourceful!

ballgame

{Tank: F21 | Skirt: Urban Outfitters | Ring: Modcloth | Necklace: Loft | Shoes: Payless}

I wore this outfit to a baseball game over the weekend. It was the perfect breezy skirt for a warm, humid evening. I also took these pictures on a baseball diamond. It was the perfect background for a baseball game outfit. Sometimes my coordination amazes me (other times, it doesn't go so well).

Whenever I go to baseball games, I allow myself to eat my favorite "gut bomb" food: Shake Shack's deep fried portabella mushroom burger (also stuffed with cheese) and fries. Afterwords, I feel so full of heavy food that all I can do is sit and stare. It works out perfect since baseball isn't really my thing, and a few of my friends get annoyed when I keep trying to talk through the game. So I basically eat myself into a food coma, and then lounge back to recover until people around me start cheering, I cheer along, then repeat. This routine has quickly turned baseball games into one of my favorite warm weather outings.
